Response from Minister Russell

During the debate on John Scott’s Members Bill regarding sea angling, Minister for Environment Michael Russell stated :

” I see no reason why we should not have a debate on recreational angling at some future stage. I cannot of course bind the Minister for Parliamentary Business, but having such a debate seems a reasonable aspiration.”

SSACN wrote to the Minister asking him to explain the process or who we have to work with in order to facilitate such a debate.

Today we received his response :

Thanks for this.

I am referring this to Richard Lochhead who is responsible for fishing but of course I spoke for both of us and I do hope a debate can be arranged at some stage in the future.

I am also copying this to the Minister for Parliamentary business for information.

The debate on John Scott’s Motion was the first time Scottish sea angling had been discussed in any Parliament, we look forward to the first time there will be a full debate.
