Motion S3M-1602, in the name of Richard Lochhead saw the marine environment was debated in Holyrood on the 20th March 2008.
Mr Lochhead lead the debate speaking for 12 minutes without once mentioning sea angling.
He managed to include grey and common seals, whales, dolphins, porpoises, important seabird populations, ports and aquaculture.

Says Bertie Armstrong, the Scottish Fisherman’s Federation chief executive.
In a recent interview he said the Scottish industry had “got real about conservation” and “It’s now absolutely recognised that the scientists are not talking nonsense.”

Update :: In a written answer to a question (S3W-10898) by John Scott MSP (Con), Mr Lochhead stated "There are currently no plans to introduce rod licences".
Westminster today abandoned its current plans to introduce sea angling licences.
