WI calls for ban on bottom trawling
THE National Federation of Women’s Institutes (NFWI) have moved away from their traditional campaigning on issues that matter to women and their communities such as children’s diet, human trafficking, healthy eating etc to join conservation groups in calling for a European Union ban on bottom trawling.
Over 5,000 women will attend the NFWI Annual General Meeting - the largest single gathering of women in the UK - in Liverpool on June 4 and delegates will discuss a resolution calling on the UK Government to urge the EU to ban bottom trawling.
