Lochhead’s 3 year plan

Jul 29th, 2008 | By ssacn | Category: Catching sector, Scottish Executive News

Mr Lochhead today promised a three-year plan, developed in partnership with the catching sector, to achieve a sustainable, fit for purpose and profitable fishing industry.

Detailed financial aspects of EU measures are still to be decided but the Scottish Government has pledged to make resources available, however the total scope and nature of the three-year plan is dependent on securing additional aid from the UK Government and Europe.

Mr Swinney recently wrote to the Treasury urging any allocation of European funds to support fishermen be backed by the UK Government and that Scotland benefits from any allocation.

More details of the plan as and when they are available.
