TACs and Quotas 2009

We will be charting the progress of the annual TAC and quota discussions over the next few months and these will be summarised on this page.

Even though the Scottish fleet have looked to introduce certain initiatives, it is easy to see that despite all the rhetoric the of the EU, their fisheries policies and practices along with the continual placing of ‘national interest’ before the interests of fish stocks, the process is not ensuring the sustainability of stocks, in fact the stocks of many species are still in decline.

The whole process is not fit for the 18th century let alone the 21st and does very little to ensure the long term survival of commercial or recreational fishing.
