The 3rd Inshore Fisheries Conference was held in Inverness on 9 October 2015 – a summary of the proceedings of the event is now available
Richard Lochhead MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs, Food and the Environment, launched the conference and delegates attended workshops/sessions on a variety of subjects as well as visiting stands from a range of organisations including MASTS, fishing federations, Seafish, Marine Scotland, Solway Firth Partnership and others.
As usual though – there was no recognition of the recreational sector nor any opportunity for representatives of it to present the case for sea anglers.
The conference announced Marine Scotland’s new Inshore Fisheries Strategy and in The Year of Food and Drink Scotland focused on developing local markets and improving the evidence base on which fisheries management decisions can be made.
