A Load of Pollacks

| April 6, 2009

from the supermarket who’s motto is ‘Try something new today’ – the chain are promoting pollack as an alternative to cod but they claim housewives will be embarrassed to ask for them by name so they are going to sell them under alternative name, but rather than choose lythe, a well known alternative they have chosen COLIN.

COLIN is the French word for Hake – good logic there then ! I wonder why they didn’t choose Wanda.?

Bradley, introduce everyone to Colin

It’s also worthy of note that the northern stock of the French Colin (Hake) is below the minimum level recommended by marine scientists and that the southern stock is depleted. Could this be the next market place for English Colin ?
