A new record cod

Jun 6th, 2010 | By editor | Category: Other Organisations

On the 3rd April 2010 a Dane, Filip Faurholm, caught a new European record cod of 39.4 kg / 86.7 lbs in Sørøya, Northern Norway.

However, the very next day a German angler, Manfred Müller, caught one in Olderfjorden of 41 kg / 90.2 lbs.

imageKinetic test fisherman and freelance writer Jacob Lindberg is arguably the Dane who has spent most weeks at Sørøya in northern Norway in the hunt for the area’s legendary big cod.

However, in a very hastily planned trip with his fishing mate Filip Faurholm, it was Filip who caught the cod weighing 39.4 kg  beating the previous European record of 37.52 kg

Filips fish will be notified as new European record, but it may not last long as a cod of 41 kg was caught by a German angler, Manfred Müller, the very next day.

As we are constantly being told UK stocks are in recovery, perhaps we shall see something similar in the none too distant future.
