Defra RSA Strategy response summary
Defra undertook a public consultation of their draft Recreational Sea Angling (RSA) Strategy between 6 December 2007 and 31 March 2008.
The results may be found in this pdf document.
Four key issues emerged from the responses and Defra’s analysis, they were whether respondents were in favour or opposed to :
- A sea angling licence being imposed on the RSA sector.
- The imposition of a ‘Golden mile’ ban on commercial fishing within 1 mile of the shore.
- A bag limit for sea anglers.
- and whether respondents made reference to the issue of representation of the RSA sector on the Sea Fisheries Committees (SFCs).
The content of the draft strategy is to be reviewed and revised in light of the comments received by the RSA Subgroup of Defra’s Inshore Fisheries Working Group and then subsequently subsequently passed for Ministerial approval later in the year.
