EU lack ambition on tuna

Oct 28th, 2010 | By editor | Category: EU Government News

EU Fisheries Commissioner Damanaki  is looking for innovative actions when reforming the CFP  - but even now she can’t get agreement from some Members States on a much needed recovery plan for Atlantic bluefin tuna. France’s Minister, whose fleet is notorious for overfishing bluefin tuna, is even defending the status quo.

What chance CFP reform if Fisheries Ministers cannot see beyond their short-term interests and get serious about building sustainable fisheries for the future ?
