IFG Coordinator jobs
Feb 23rd, 2009 | By ssacn | Category: HighlightVacancies for IFG (Inshore Fisheries Group) Coordinators in the Clyde, South East and Outer Hebrides have been announced by Seafish but the salaries of up to £31,680 will be paid by the Scottish government.
According to the job spec IFGs aim to improve the management of Scotland’s inshore fisheries out to 6nm and to give commercial inshore fishermen (owners, skippers and crew) a strong voice in wider marine management developments.
The successful applicants will develop inshore fisheries management plans for their respective areas; plan and deliver activities in support of them; advise on fisheries management practices, manage research projects and maintain an up to date knowledge of local fishing activity and the wider legislative context.
Effective communication and liaison with IFG members, the wider fishing industry, conservation agencies and the other main stakeholders will be key to the success of the role and also the greatest test of it.
