Seafood Scotland’s Inshore Manager Craig Burton was ‘all at sea’ recently, when he joined an angling trip for eight chefs from the Glasgow Hilton, hosted by Campbell Brothers Fish.
Onboard Ronnie Campbell’s Laura Dawn, fishing in Loch Etive out of Oban, Craig pitted his angling skills against those of the chefs, and showed that he was better on the theory that the practical!
His task on the day was to talk to the chefs about sustainability, and to give them a better understanding of the variety of top quality seafood available from Scotland, through their supplier Campbell Brothers Fish.
“The chefs were keen to learn, and already quite knowledgeable about seafood sustainability, which was encouraging to hear,” said Craig. “Seafood Scotland is currently undertaking a lot of work with chefs and the food service sector, and we are keen to see more Scottish seafood on menus.”
The group caught an impressive selection of mackerel, whiting, dog fish, skate and cod, all of which were released back into the Loch.
