Offshore Wind SEA and Draft Plan

| September 8, 2010

For anyone who didn’t manage along to one of the earlier events relating to the SEA consultation, some additional ones have been planned, they are :

  • Wednesday 8 September – Castlebay School, Barra -  6-8 pm
  • Monday 13 September – Discovery Point, Discovery Quay, Dundee – 6-8 pm.
  • Thursday 16 September – An Talla, Tiree – 6-7.30 pm
  • Wednesday 22 September – [venue tbc], Islay – 6-8 pm

At the events, Marine Scotland officials will provide more information about the Plan and other projects relating to offshore wind, wave and tidal energy, and will note your comments.

The SEA provides a framework for progressing the development of offshore wind energy out to 12 NM, and along with the draft plan presents the Government’s vision for offshore wind development up to 2020 and beyond.  The draft development plan has identified 10 sites as the short term option (2010-2020) and an additional 25 areas as medium term options (beyond 2020) for developing offshore wind.

If you would like further information on the events, please contact offshorewindconsultation@scotland.gsi.gov.uk or on 0131 244 1617.

The Offshore Wind SEA and Draft Plan are open for public consultation until 27 September 2010

If you are unable to attend an event, you can still put forward your views by responding to the consultation.  The documents are available on the Scottish Government website – www.scotland.gov.uk/consultations
