Remember the quota consultation ?

| December 5, 2008

Liberal Democrat Fisheries spokesman Liam McArthur MSP has demanded the Scottish Government makes progress on finalising plans for quota management in Scotland.

The Scottish Government launched the quota management and licensing consultation in May and promised to consult further once responses had been analysed. The outcome of consultation report has yet to be published and fishermen are still in the dark as to what ministers plan to introduce as of January 1 2009.

McArthur continued “Ministerial promises to consult further on their intentions in relation to quota management remain unfulfilled. In the meantime, Scottish fishermen will not thank the SNP for treating their industry like a political football.’
