Samantha King appointed

samanthaOur Community Outreach Programme has proved very successful and so far has been delivered to more than 2,600 individuals of all ages.

Now, thanks to funding support from Marine Scotland, we are pleased to announce the appointment of Samantha Jane King as our Community Outreach Project Officer.

Samantha has a BSC in Marine and Freshwater Biology and an MSc. in Coastal Management and has been involved in marine educational activities with a wide range of organisations and has also volunteered her efforts in SSACN’s Sharkatag and Celebrating Scotland’s Sharks events.

From the first time she rock-pooled at Greenock’s Lunderston Bay, Samantha has been captivated by the diversity of marine life that lives right on our doorstep; this combined with her diverse skill set and personal qualities, made her an ideal choice to further develop our Community Outreach Programme.

Samantha’s main objective will be to identify opportunities to engage in cooperative development with community groups, schools, youth groups or other such organisations and enable them to become self-sustaining SSACN Community Outreach Hubs.

The Hubs will be trained to deliver SSACN material and Samantha will work with them to develop additional local initiatives aimed at raising the awareness of sea angling opportunities, increasing participation in the sport, best practice/skills and marine conservation issues.

If you or your organisation would like to know how you can get involved as an individual or in creating a Hub, please contact Samantha at
