Shark radar reward

| December 2, 2008

A reward is being offered by the Isle of Man charity Basking Shark Watch for the safe retrieval of a shark radar which has fallen off a basking shark called David from the Isle of Man.

Basking sharks are a vulnerable species protected by UK law and several other countries.

It’s last transmissions were from the Portpatrick area and the charity now believe the radar which cost £3,000 to buy, has either lost it’s aerial or it’s battery has run out.

It is believed that the radar, which is red in colour, slightly larger than a golf ball, and resembles a large fishing float, may eventually be washed up on a beach in the Rhins area, and it’s last known position was near Ardwell bay.

There is a £200 reward for the return for the return of the radar, and anyone who thinks they may have found it is asked to contact the Galloway Gazette on 01671 404766.
