Sharkatag 2015: Report

| September 17, 2015

anne jonesWe would like to say a big thank you to the participants of this year’s Sharkatag event in southwest Scotland. Conditions were difficult limiting the event to the Saturday only with over half the boats opting to fish from Port Logan to take some shelter.

A total of 18 boats participated,  catching, tagging and releasing 19 tope, 13 spurdog, 12 bullhuss, one thornback ray and one blonde ray as well as 60 lesser spotted dogfish. We had several first time attendants including Ann Jones (pictured) who had never caught or tagged a shark before this event. Ann said she had a great day out and is already looking forward to next year.

The Blonde Ray caught by Paul McKay aboard On Yer Marks, fishing from Port Logan is the first of these lovely rays caught in the area for many years …. fantastic news and hopefully this will be the first of many.

Blonde rayThe last SSACN event of the year is the Skate re-capture event in the Argyle area on Saturday 17th & Sunday 18th October … headquarter is the Galley Of Lorne Inn at Ardfern. More info can be found at
