Celebrating Scotland’s Sharks

Celebrating Scotland's Sharks LogoThis two day event was held at the Sea Life Aquarium at Loch Lomond on Saturday the 10th and Sunday the 11th May 2014.

This exciting new event showcased the amazing efforts to conserve sharks, skates and rays in Scotland and gave people the opportunity to explore and appreciate the complex and amazing world of these beautiful animals.

The Sea Life Aquarium was transformed for the weekend into a place of celebration for all things Shark, Skate and Ray providing a wide range of exciting, interactive and unforgettable experiences aimed at raising awareness about the wide range of shark species in Scotland and the challenges they are facing. From shark touch tanks, talks from scientists and shark egg hunts to 30ft shark inflatable’s, games and videos to crafts and puzzles there was something for everyone.

When thinking of marine conservation, the negatives associated with our uses of this unfamiliar environment are all too often the focus; this event was a celebration with everyone given a chance to join in, contribute and help make a difference.

Just how big is a basking shark?
