Thank you for your interest in becoming involved in the Scottish Shark Tagging Programme. The more people we have tagging on our behalf the more impact and influence the data has for new MPA, government policy and ultimately in making sure there are still sharks skates and rays in Scottish waters for years to come.
As part of our commitment to protecting Sharks, Skates and Rays, we adhere to strict guidelines for the tagging and handling of sharks. These guidelines are extremely important to our work and ensure the safely and well-being of the fish and the anglers.
In order to make sure that all taggers are aware of the safest ways to tag, we have devised an online training course. The course consists of 30 multiple choice questions and has been devised from the knowledge and experience gained from 25 years of tagging sharks, skate and rays.
Everything you need to know in order to pass the training can be found in the training document found below. Additional information can also be found in our reading room. Once you feel confident enough to start the training, please click “Start Training Now” below.
*Note: The training course in password protected. If you have not been sent the password but would like to take the test and be involved in the tagging of sharks, skates and rays in the UK then please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or click here.
